Cambridge exams are recognised world-wide and are widely accepted by companies as proof of a certain level of English. The Advanced Certificate in English is widely accepted as proof of English language skills for university entry, especially in the UK.
Participants are required to do homework and self-study in the afternoons.
Exams can be written in Cape Town, possibly in the last week of the course. Good Hope Studies assists with the exam registration.

You can expect to:
- participate in at least 80% of the course
- get personal attention from professional teachers
- invest a lot of time in self-study and homework after class

The required minimum levels are:
- Cambridge English: First (FCE): Strong Intermediate to Upper Intermediate level (B1+/B2)
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Strong Upper Intermediate to Advanced level (B2+/C1)
- Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Strong Advanced to Proficiency level (C1/C2)

מיקום בית ספר

The English language school in Newlands, Cape Town, is located in an upmarket residential area. Here you can study in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, you are close to all types of accommodation and only a short walk away from a commercial and office centre.

People learn best when they feel comfortable and relaxed. You will find the school building to be a warm and friendly place in a quiet environment. Besides the usual learning facilities, you will also find an interior that creates a pleasant atmosphere in which to study. In addition to fully equipped classrooms, the school building offers a break room where students enjoy free coffee and tea, free Internet access for e-mailing and Wifi. Our school offers a beautiful garden, where classes regularly take place, as well as a swimming pool.

We provide on-site accommodation where you can study and live on the same property. Alternatively you can choose our Student House only 15 minutes walking distance from school or you can stay with a host family (GHS Homestay) close to school.

South African host-families are well known for their friendliness and hospitality. Your “host-family” could be a single woman, an older couple or a young couple with children. Either way, staying with a family will give you a unique insight into the South African lifestyle.

In Newlands, Good Hope Studies is the only major English Language school. We therefore have a large number of high quality families available. In the city centre, the number of good quality families is limited. Late bookings might therefore result in longer travel times.

You may book a single or double room and your family will supply you with breakfast and dinner. Travel distance to the school is very short, with only a few families living as far as 45 minutes from the school. In the southern suburbs, all host-families stay in private houses with gardens.
